Very bad customer service. Took a very long time to get served. Food was well below pub standard. Turkey dinner was actually the processed meat you would put in a sandwich. Asked Gina and Barry (upstairs) if I could get a drink, I’ve been waiting 20min. Barry replies “no you haven’t” and walks off! I understand if you’re short staffed, but this was a joke. Bar was mostly empty, hate to think what it would be like if they were busy. On the upside….no theres no upside. If you want to fill a hole and don’t mind taking a long time to get served, then go for it. Good luck. pbeast - 16 Dec 2011 10:58
Sorry but this place is just bland and the ale choice ain't great either. If you like this sort of place the Brasshouse almost opposite is a better bet. Number.6 - 21 Feb 2011 21:41
As far as wetherspoon/lloyd places go, this is really very nice. The atmosphere is always good, the pub itself is airy, fairly well decorated and clean and the service is efficient even when busy. I could be imagining it, but somehow the food always seems to taste better here than other wetherspoons places too. Probably just me. All in all, a good place to go for cheap drinks and food with a friendly and trouble free atmosphere. siddo - 8 Aug 2009 19:23
This Lloyds No 1 is getting a bit shabby these days, it’s much better viewed at night when the lights are dimmed. It has no distinguishing features really, it’s just a large barn with some seating and a dance floor, although there is an upstairs bar with seating which is open at busy times. Three handpumps on the bar serving Pedigree, Abbot and Highgate Dark. I had a pint of the Highgate which was surprisingly good and was only £1.59. There are three quiz machines in here, one downstairs and two upstairs. I wouldn’t want to be here for a session, but it’s OK for one. ROBCamra - 10 Jun 2009 11:31
On a recent daytime session in Birmingham we happened to drop in to the Solomon Cutler just by chance really. They only have three ales on here but thats not really a problem more an act of common sense. I had a pint of Wychwood Dirty Tackle which was really good. We decided to eat here and were all impressed by the quality of the food, it was nice and hot plus it arrived in a reasonable amount of time. In all I was glad we poped in, the only down side to the whole visit was using the gents toilets. As I walked in the wall to the left had a rather large blood stain on it. Im supprised the staff checking the toilets didnt notice it. thatchrisdude - 25 Mar 2009 12:11
