Reasonable enough kind of pub. Nothing special but nothing brilliant either. The Hooky Bitter was palatable.

How things have changed...

A pint of HookNorton beer that couldn't be drunk, and a glass of wine where the glass probably cost more than the contents. Such a shame.

On the basis of recommendations from this site I called in for lunch on 9th October 2008. A really terrific country pub! A fairly simple menu but excellent food nicely presented by friendly staff. Will certainly be back. I can't speak too highly of it.
Give it a try!

Attended a family 'do' there recently. Beer selection good & in excellent condition. The food was also superb. A nice comfortable atmosphere & friendly staff, the new owners are doing a fine job! Well worth a visit.

The best pub in Middleton by a country mile. On our visit there was live music, the pub was rammed and food until fairly late. There were 4 Real Ales on and our Hooky Bitter and Mauldons White Adder were in great nick. A pub to stay in, which we did, the food seems to be fairly standard but hearty and well worth trying.
A very popular and well run establishment and one that we will visit again.
