Well, this used to be an "avoid" pub. Not any more though. They seem to be getting away from that rough image and reputation that they had in the past. I've been in a few times in the past 5/6 months and it's been fine. Nice to see live music here at the weekends too. Definitely better. Crawler1966 - 17 Sep 2012 13:25
Was pleased to see this pub now selling good real ales, in the past they have been rather toxic but the new management seem to be on top of them. Visited this pub on a Thursday night and was good to see it busy, the staff were very welcoming. Will definetly be re visiting. davethebrave - 14 Feb 2011 22:50
A cosy oasis of calm form the High Street outside. Like walking in to someone's front room. Unfortunately it's a McMullen's house. Snarling_Mallard - 9 Dec 2009 18:14
The Kings Head was in danger of disappearing but the new management have made an incredible difference. It's still very much a local pub, more soul & atmosphere than the Misty Moon and less cliquey than some of the other local watering holes. First rate bar staff, professional & friendly but not intrusive. Well stocked and the beers are well kept. Jukebox with every hit since the charts started and played at an appropriate volume for the ambience of the pub at that moment. It's easy to get comfortable in the Kings Head and stay a few drinks longer than expected. yabegrim - 9 Jun 2009 23:23
i have been drinking in the kings head for the last 3 years, and what people have stated below is for the most part true, well it was, for the lats 2 months the King Head has been under new management and i have never been so impressed by a pubs turn around. the landlord is a nice guy and always up for a laugh, the bar staff are alway happy and welcoming to customers, the fridges are always stocked now as well as having more than one cast ale on draft as well as having a nice amount of people in it nearly all the time. the beer garden located at the rear and side of the pub is a nice place for chilling out with friends over a nice drink. entertainment on the weekend is good and brings in a nice crowd and the pub is never dead on the weekend anymore. The Kings Head is now a very very nice place to drink for the whole family, and i would recommend everyone to go there and try it out them self, even if they have been in there before happy_drinker - 1 Jun 2009 15:15
