Had a bit of a makeover.

Still a St Austell brewery pub but what was the bar is now a restaurant and the 'pub' is now called the 'Well bar' and is on the lower ground floor presumably where a well and the cellar once was. A small pool room leads off the 'Well bar'.

Having been called a tosser by another reviewer of this pub because I suggested that it isn't pleasant to sit in a pub trying to eat a meal with drunken locals swearing all the time, the brewery must have taken the same view and banished them to the 'Well bar' with a nice large screen telly with Sky footie on to keep them happy. The former pub still has the same layout with the bar exactly where it was, but the whole place has been redecorated and now has a very good team in the kitchen producing very good, reasonably priced food, (half the price of the Godolphin at the bottom of the hill) ......and with a great view.

The beer garden is still the best in town.

The Fire Engine is THE only proper Local's pub left in Marazion.
If you want the BEST kept beer in town (Marazion is, officially, a town) and are prepared to take the short walk up the hill then you'll find this gem of a pub, immersed in history, very well worth the effort to visit.
Try the toasted sandwiches. Second to none. But, more important, try the Cornish Best or Tribute. Proper beer, kept proper!

Returned for the first time since making my previous comment in 2009 and this place hasn't changed one iota - the views are still sumptuous but the same beers are on and probably have been for the last 5 years. I had a couple of Tributes and they were ok.

So, a little dull, perhaps, but worth a shot if you're in the area and are looking to do a bit of a crawl.

Regarding the last reviewer, what a tosser.
Called in last Saturday night, and due to an earlier comment, the HSD had been put on..........excellent pint, and a laugh a minute Landlord, even though his trousers had shrunk in the wash

17 bus from PZ stops nearby, and its downhill to the next two village pubs.
