user reviews of the Bulls Head, Arthingworth

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The interior of the pub is reasonable. However, the standard of food is not. Fishpie and vegetables were cold and had to be returned. Then informed by barstaff that they were re-heating them! Declined these and had ham egg and chips which were acceptable.
The standard of service was not good either: slow and unsmiling.
Beer measure was also short and had to be asked to top it up.

Pleasant village pub with 3 real ales - Batemans XB and Thwaites Original & Lancaster Bomber. Ciders were Westons Stowford Press and Thatchers Old Rascal. Service was friendly. Music was being played at a low volume. The TV was off. This was the first time I'd noticed Northamptonshire skittles in. I was to see this several times more during the day. There is also a bookswap scheme near the entrance. The decor is nice enough, especially the all wood bar. However the glasses that were gathering, on entering and still on leaving, detracted from this a little.

A little disappointed after the 4 mile trek along a disused railway line from Harborough. Only two ales on, both Thwaites (Bitter & Bomber). Plumped for the Bomber which wasn't anything special. The pub has a well worn look and feel to it. The cooking smells from the kitchen weren't what i would call enticing nor were the number of resident houseflies. For some reason (maybe the previous write ups and it's inclusion in the good beer guide) I was expecting better. Not worth the out of the way trek to based on this offering.

Great real ale pub handy for Kelmarsh Hall, good food & friendly staff - the landlady Sandie is fantastic, she has even given us lifts back to Kelmarsh Hall after closing when we have put on Civil War re-enactments, weel worth a visit. Northampton Skittles in back bar.

Was on my way back from Liverpool and saw the signs on the A14 so my girlfriend and I decided to stop there for a bite to eat on a nice Sunday afternoon. First impressions of the pub were the same as most other country pubs until you try the food and use the toilets.

I did not check to see if it was a freehold or tenancie but it looked like a lot of pride has gone into the pub and the food.

Having worked in the pub industry for 16 years and doing countless mystery customer reports I think this would have got 100% on most companies report requirements.

If your in the area and need a cold drink and some food then try this place, in fact even if you're not in the area try it.
