With the Queen's Head closed, my final pub of the day in Gwent ended up being the Coach & Horses. It's a Brain's pub. Their Bitter & SA were on, alongside guests - Bath Gem & Butcombe Original. But I'd agree with the previous reviewer that this wasn't the most inspiring. Of more interest was the clientele. From the drunk lady at the bar to the cross dressing man sat at a table, the pub certainly had its share of characters. A good pub should always have a few characters. So a bonus point for that.

For some reason, I thought this was a bit meh. Can't quite put my finger on why, though, because it sounded like it would be just my thing. I suppose the service was just a bit too impersonal and the beer selection (at least when I visited) a bit dull.

Visited this pub on recommendation for a meal and a drink. Found to be very friendly with very well kept ale , SA and Rev James from Brains , a Wye Valley ale and another guest. The food was good and pretty good value too. The pub has one room split onto two levels , a smoking area and an interesting collection of saucy postcards in the spotless toilets. I will be going again and definitely recommend the walk away from the wether spoons and up the hill.

Popped in once. Had one pint. Perfect. My guess is that the cellarmanship is outstanding.

a lovely pint of brewdog trashy blonde and an overexcited pub mascot jack russell featured on my rather anebriated visit, 8/10
