Doesn't seem to have changed at all since my last review. The Wye Valley Butty Bach was in fine condition yesterday; I didn't try the Goff's Cheltenham Gold.

A lovely looking pub with nice wooden framing inside and 2 separate bars, one seemingly showing sports for the locals and not very enticing and the other with a restaurant attached. I can't comment on the food but the St George's Friar Tuck was in good order and there was also Wye Valley Flower Power and Butty Bach. The barman was somewhat surly (although we did merit a thank-you when we left) but seemed more friendly towards his regulars. I would revisit (and try the food) because the village is one of the most attractive black-and-white villages of the area (in 2008 it appeared in the top fifty of the Times Newspapers best places to live in England). Unless the food/accommodation is dire, then this pub deserves a better rating than its current rating of 4/5.

Recently taken over, this place has been transformed. It's now clean, tastefully-decorated, with comfortable seats and a great atmosphere. There's a good selection of local beers from the Wye Valley & Ludlow Breweries, and an excellent menu. We went for a meal the other night and the place was packed - which speaks for itself. A 3-course meal for 2 of us plus drinks was under 60, and was excellent value for money.

If you've bever been before, or have visited in the last 10 years or so and been disappointed, give this place another try before its fame spreads and you can't book a table. You won't be disappointed!

I VISITED THE PUB FOR SUNDAY LUNCH LAST SUNDAY AND THE FOOD WAS FANTASTIC,WOW! THE SERVICE WAS EXTEMELY PLEASANT AND HELPFUL. ALTHOUGH THE PUB HAS RECENTLY CHANGED HANDS AND EVERONE WAS BUSY NOTHING WAS TO MUCH TROUBLE.THE MENU SEEMED REASONABLE FOR GOOD FOOD. ONCE AGAIN THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS AND I WILL DEFINATLEY BE GOING BACK. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL IN YOUR NEW VENTURE.GREAT 10/10.

STOP PRESS - as with everything, things change.
Four of us camew here for Sunday lunch about 5 years ago - it was brilliant. I booked for 4 again on the basis of our previous experience for Sunday lunch on 5th August..............only then did I read recent reports on both this site and trip advisor.
I am delighted to say that it has obviously gone full circle!! The Sunday roast was superb - both the pork and lamb; in fact despite the fact that we get our meat from a local country butcher this was just superb and a huge portion of 6 thickly cut succulent slices served with a plentiful supply of beautifully cooked veg as well. The starters must be mentioned as being beautifully presented and prepared as well - wild mushroom x 1 and goats cheese x 3.
I really hope that Dave, the current boss for about one week now, is granted the running of the establishment by Enterprise Inns as he will without doubt, in his 30 years experience in the trade, make a huge success of the place which is what it deserves.
It would be unfair to mention deficiencies durig this trial phase which has been going for a week; suffice to say that in such a small enclave, he served 45 full meals on the Saturday night - during the height of the summer in a small herefordshire village!
Dave - take this place on - and potential customers............just don't hesitate!
