Throughly enjoyed one of the special "Jazz nights" with 3 course menu at 15 per head. Food well prepared and excellent value. 3 real ales (Shepherd Neame) available.

A very disappointing evening. I should have realised what to expect when I read the menu which had numerous typo's. Both bar and food service was poor. The food which arrived after a long wait was poorly cooked and overpriced for the quality. The toilets were disgusting. The only redeeming quality was the pianist who was excellent. I wouldn't go back.

Took a walk to The Duck Inn this Sunday, was a nice walk from Chelmsford took about 1hr 15mins if you live around the Melbourne area. The staff were friendly, the food was delicious, well presented and plentiful. On arrival we thought perhaps it was overpriced but considering the quality and quantity decided it was well worth the money, especially considering the peaceful surroundings and friendly service. Suits people over 30 and families.

Disappointing. No Spitfire left early on a Saturday lunchtime. Half-full glasses of lager from previous night (we arrived there just as it opened) hadn't been cleared from garden, meaning they were swarming with hundreds of wasps!
Thought the food (including children's menu) was overpriced. Having said that, the snacks we had (I had sausage & chips) were good, especially the chips. Good play equipment for children.
