Another Greene King pub that was not originally in my plans for Bexley. 5 handpulls offered just 2 ales - IPA & Abbot. The Abbot was drinkable and the CAMRA discount made it slightly more palatable. Only one other customer was in. We sat in the window, where several near misses at the town's tiny but manic roundabout provided a little entertainment.

The George has now been refurbished. The staff are numerous, professional and polite. The toilets have been completely refurbished. They've started serving a nice range of well kept craft beer. If you don't want loud music you can just sit to the side of the bar. I retract my last review of this place. If you want a decent pint in a pub with an excellent atmosphere then this is the place for you.

New landlord. Better evening? I don't think so. I've been drinking in the George for a few years on an off on a Friday evening and it's always been a decent enough experience. The beer was always decent and the staff very polite. Things changed recently. It got to 7 o'clock the other night and booming music started playing. At first we though it was a joke. We asked the new landlord what was going on. He said that ass soon as younger drinkers began to arrive he would put loud music on. It must have been a shame as he stood watching his regulars walking out of the door. If you like loud music and kids on a Friday this place is for you else give it a miss.

Greene King pub - IPA, Hen, St Edmunds. Does OK food. Large, clean, recentky refurbished, and comfortable - but feels empty and hollow. No atmosphere or character. The Kings Head is the top pub in Bexley. The Tavern, though smelly and indifferent, has a range of cask ales - this has nothing much going for it, other than its inoffensive.

Tasty meal deal, pleasant "house" ale and good service, atmosphere a little dead but was a weekday lunchtime.
