Got to love GPS Units... out in the capital and wanted to find this place, after looking for a couple of geocaches.

The Pub is only a POI in a Garmin GPS unit. So, knowing where it was meant no excuse not to visit.

As described here - a homage to the Navy and Oliver Read. Football on in the corner. Upstairs not for the feint hearted.

An experience - well worth having.

British-style pub located in the centre of Valletta behind the Grand Master's Palace. It's very small almost as if you're drinking in someone's front room but that perhaps adds to the uniqueness of this place. The interior is made up of Royal Navy memorabelia and photos and press cuttings of the late, great Oliver Reed who collapsed in here whilst in Malta filming Gladiator. There's TV in one corner often showing sports channels. If ever you go upstairs to use the loo it's worth taking a couple of extra minutes to read all the graffetti!

Bombardier is on tap as is Guiness and the local Maltese brew Cisc. It's worth noting that The Pub often closes after 6pm unless there's a large party or Royal Navy ship in town.

It's definately worth a visit here. You're likely to meet other passing Brit tourists and ex-pats there though on my visit a couple of Maltese locals were enjoying a pint in there too. It's a very unusual pub and THE place to pay homage to Ollie Reed!

If visiting Malta everybody visits Valletta. Everybody visiting Valletta must visit The Pub. This pub is an oasis in a wonderful city. Graham and his wife "T" make all most welcome. Many imported beers including Guiness and Strongbow at very fair prices. My only dissappointment is that they do not serve food, but do not let that put you off. This pub is a must visit place. Don't just walk past or take a photo, go in and sample the atmoshere.

The final watering hole of the late, great Ollie Reed, who died here after one last session during the filming of Gladiator. As such it is as much a tourist attraction as a pub, but you can get English beers (albeit keg) and Pukka Pies and Walkers crisps. Also idiosyncratic opening hours: the boss Warren likes to close early and hit the town himself! An absolute must if you are on the island. Raise a glass to Ollie while you are there.
