| Pretty busy on Good Friday afternoon but I couldn't put my finger on why this place didn't quite fit the bill. Maybe it's because the village is little more than a collection of houses along a busy main road and lies just outside the more scenic Peak District National Park; maybe it was because we didn't see the beer garden behind the car park; or maybe it was because they were waiting for a Birra Moretti delivery so I had to settle for an Amstel to slake my mid-walk thirst. One of the locals was making his way through a barrel of Courage Directors and I thought I saw Black Sheep Bitter as well as one other ale but it was too warm for any of those. paul_d102 - 26 Apr 2019 09:05 |
| A nice traditional pub next to the old rail station (the old rail line, lifted in the 60's now serves as a popular walking route to leek). Nice friendly staff, good food, a very popular Sunday lunching spot offering a good variety of both food and drink. Nice cosy pub in the colder months too with an open fire. | Visited family in rushton a few weeks back. Visited the Knott Inn also and enjoyed the food, however service wasnt too great. It was a Sunday and was very busy, took an hour after ordering for food to be served, enjoyed the meal greatly however was unsure if it was 'homemade' or simply bought in. I would go again however next time try a week day rather than the sunday. The drinks where also quite expensive but overall ok john56 - 1 Dec 2010 16:02 |
| Really nice pub with a friendly welcome. Its a Punch Tavern so the beer range is a bit unimaginative but even so the Black Sheep bitter was nicely kept and served. Landlady is worth a mention - we booked a table for the Friday evening and she offered us a place in the restaurant " or the bar, if we are not busy, 'cos you won't want to be in there all on your own". So we left it to her and enjoyed a table for 10, reserved in the pub with regulars and other diners around, Food here is EXCEPTIONALLY good in quality and price. Not to be missed.
