Well run family pub, lots of room for the kids to let off steam in the fantastic beer garden, marquee and play area. Food is homemade and served most evenings, good value for money .... Bar maids are stunners .... well worth a look on a tues wed and thurs, but on the mon and a fri they are generally quite hairy around the lips. Every village has an idiot and i think this award goes to someone call Paul, a local cab driver ...talk about know all .... mind you very snappy dresser, looks like hes a serial mourner at the funerals at st michaels as he always wears black ...each to there own i sppose.
Give it a try anyway

The pub looked like a oldy wordly place from the green outside so we thought we'd try it... mistake. Loud music, were advised that the Pride was off. We tried it and so it was. The girl behind the bar suggested that she pulls a couple of pints to clear the awful taste. Surely, had she been trained well enough, she would have known that the barrel needed changing or tipping. She didn't have a clue (or so it seemed). We opted for a couple of 1/2 Guinesses and were out of there as soon as we could.
Didn't seem to be the kind of pub where 'gays' would be comfortable to go and have a quiet drink! Even if I was a lesbian, this is the last pub I'd go to for a drink with 'my fellow lesbians'!

Shame. A lovely old country pub on a small green blighted by low climbing aircraft directly overhead on full throttle from Heathrow a few miles away. The bar lady immediately warned us the London Pride (only real ale on) might be a "bit tangy", yes it was well passed its best and undrinkable. Turnover may not be sufficient to sell a 72 pint barrel in a few days. My bad timing, perhaps. Pub had loud music playing on the juke box and widescreen TV screens on.
Didn't notice any obvious gays, not that I was looking.

Popped in for a lunchtime pint and was welcomed by friendly barmaid who served up a decent pint of Pride. Can't comment on locals, gay or otherwise (does it matter?!!), as I was only punter there. Pub was clean and presentable and toilets in top condition. Judging by pictures on the wall this is a thriving locals pub and would visit again. Don't be put off by negative comments elsewhere.

i take it this is some sort of running joke about the Crown being a gay bar ??

its possibly the least gay establishment i have ever visited !! top place with top people in charge of it !!
