FABULOUS FOOD, all home made which u dont get anywhere these days. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Ale great what more could you ask for in a local village pub. No more 'scum' in there like there was 5 YRS ago, totally turned around. Highly recommend to alot of people. 1960's sunday lunch i must disagree, home made patatoes and yorkshire puddings, gravy, carrot and turnip and fab veg where do get that on a sunday anymore?!

Have visited this hostelry sveral times over the past 2 years..............on every occasion, the 'guest' ale has always been a lack-lustre version of Caledonia Deuchars (just when does guest become regular ?). Paid a visit last night, expecting a convivial evening chatting with friends, to find we could not hear a word since the 'entertaiunment' was far too loud ! Worryingly, an entire corner of the lounge was occupied by 15-year olds happily swigging bottles of Corona ! Rainhill needs help on the pub front. The 'beer' in The Com is now undrinkable, a night spent in The Vic will leave your ear-drums shattered; whwre can I go for a nice, quiet pint ?

Upon entering the Victoria, you cannot help but feel profoundly depressed; there is an atmosphere of grim foreboding, and a look of abject misery in the dull and lustreless eyes of the regulars. Glancing around occasionally- each of them numbed by a Carling-induced melancholy- they down drinks in an effort to forget the unbearable ennui of everyday life.
