Not a huge range of beers but very good in all other respects - the ales were well kept while a beautiful black Labrador came and snuggled up to us of a Monday afternoon in winter and the barman chose the greatest hits of The Cure to serenade us, getting a good thumbs up from us. He and his mate were, weirdly, scouring the internet for skiing holidays while on asking his pal if he could cover his shift for a couple of weeks, the response as an immediate, 'yeah - ok then'

Impressive boozer, pretty much packed to the rafters every time I'm in there, and always a great buzz to the place. Beer is always beautifully kept and the food is brilliant, well worth a visit.

It's a bit small - like being in a small boat. Although there's nothing wrong with the pub - the much talked-about food is OK - it does seem to be missing some vital ingredient... atmosphere?

Great little pub, just tucked away off the western road. Warm and friendly, chatty bar staff and fantastic tunes! Ate the must amazing lamb shank. Highly recommended.
