user reviews of the Horse and Farrier, Lancaster

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Excellent basic "boozer" - a rarity these days in the city centre. Only Thwaites Bitter on sale but well worth a visit if you like pubs as they used to be.

I left my handbag in this pub and they kept it safe for me can,t thank them enough, the bag was worth more than was in it, The toilets could do with a bit of a overhall but staff and drinks were good prices just below average. would go again when in lancaster

a real "proper boozer" in the centre of the city, lots of dubious confrontational characters and elderley couples having arguments, three handpumps all with thwaites original on the clips, not my beer of choice but it was perfect(2.70pint)6/10

This apparently innocuous pub was recently the scene of a massive brawl, which broke out after a family funeral descended into what was described by local police as one of the "worst instances of violence" ever seen in the city of Lancaster. The mourners had just arrived at the Horse & Farrier when a family disagreement escalated into a major fight, which had to be broken up by a posse of armed policemen. This has done little to help the pub's rapidly sinking reputation.
