This pub is now a free house! Newly refurbished, with 4 real ale pumps! Very friendly landlords and open daytime too.

The pub had a new landlord (Ron) early in 2009 and now serves excellent food at a great price, not to mention perfectly kept beer. Yes it's a Greene King pub so mostly Greene King standards, but the beer is good the atmosphere is much improved.

Called in whilst hiking on the Three Churches Walk.

Contemporary decoration in the lounge (nothing too personal or characteristic, very Greene King makeover, but pleasant enough).

One guest ale (well kept) and other Greene King staples.

Simple pub food (scampi, pasta etc). Neither cheap nor dear. Nicely cooked and friendly service.

Summary: pleasant enough, nothing special but handy if you're passing by.

Refurbished in early 2007, a warm friendly pub with great pub food and guest ales. One of the nicest local pubs and my local.

Stopped here for lunch today (5.3.05) with a walking group of 7. We were made very welcome and the food and service were good. I enjoyed a great steak and ale suet pudding - just the thing before a walk on a bitterly cold snowy day!

The new owners (?) are working to make it a success and I wish them good luck with trade this spring and summer.

Thank you. (RL)
