The Trent House is a pub favoured by students, not far from St James' Park. On my Tuesday evening visit, it was fairly busy. But I managed to find a small table. The ground floor bar is small. But I gather there is another upstairs. The 4 ales on were Harviestoun Bitter And Twisted, Caledonian Golden XPA, Copper Dragon Serendipity & Firebrick Blaydon Brick. The number of pumpclips on the ceiling indicated that they've had a fair few decent beers in here in the past.

Enjoyed a pre-match pint on Sunday, lucky to get standing space near bar. Very similar to Manchester's N/4 pubs in terms of feel, beer range and relaxed atmosphere. Staff were great, toasties and sausage rolls were cheap but so-so, local beer was good enough but must stick to Rivet Catcher next time.

Used to love this place but has really went down hill. The toasties used to be class but were poor last few times I have been in and the barman who served me the last time couldnt of cracked a smile if his life depended on it. A really pity cos it used to a cracking little bar.

Full of students who only talk to other students. Uninterested bar staff (more students), poor range of beers (and not well kept on draught), not cheap, jukebox is free but Iooks like it was made from a job-lot of records someone found in a carrier bag behind a hedge, dingy toilets with a capacity of ONE person standing. Wonderful bar!

Hardly changed over the years and thats what i like about it. Serves cans of Red Stripe and the best toasties in the world. Good, relaxed atmoshpere and canny staff. Can sit for hours getting creased in The Trent. One of the best bars in the toon!
