On a cold day in early January, it was nice to see a roaring fire next to the bar. We enjoyed a nice hour either side of the fire. There were a handful of others in. Many pubs around here close during the afternoon and this is no exception. I'm not sure if this is owned by Fuller's. But the 2 ales were ESB & Oliver's Island. Not too bad. A little pricey though.

Visited on a Saturday lunchtime, it was practically full with everyone standing up drinking and chatting, few tables (not that there were too many) in the bar. Had an excellent pint and some cauliflower soup which was most agreeable. Had a friendly conversation with one of the regulars, when I left the landlord said goodbye and thanks for coming - when did I last have that from a pub I'd visited for the first time? I must go back there

Totally brilliant pub. We were probably the clients from hell, bringing in two tired kids and being indecisive.

The service we received though was brilliant. The food was top notch and of more than ample portions - blimey we struggled! The beer was great.

The ambience was perfect and it had that lovely but slight essence of burning wood from the fire. Traditional and slightly contemporary look to the bar.

Could not fault it in anyway.

Cannot wait to go back.

Visited for the first time yesterday. Lovely place, I'll definitely go again. Very close to A303 but not so close that traffic noise is a problem. Nice pint of Ringwood, great roast beef.

Very clean, beer garden, dogs welcome in the bar. Car parking is a tad limited.

more pretentious than the Lamb, across the road. Beers quite good and better selection that the Lamb.
Quieter place but marginally friendlier reception, so 7 on this visit.
