user reviews of De Beiaard, Amsterdam

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Pub remains unchanged since last visit. Very friendly and enjoyable evening on 27/03/2008. Sat at the bar and supped a few beers whilst chatting to locals in a mixture of Dutch and English. Fair range of Dutch and Belgian beers on offer, varied food menu and convivial atmosphere.

Easiest way to reach is by tram routes 1, 2 or 5; alight at "Spui".

Good range of beers in an excellent location for watching the world go by. Food is particularly good here as well. Seating ranges from nice long padded benches along the wall, to a small conservatory with wicker chairs and table to al fresco tables. Kriek Max was excellent and palate cleansing. Worth stopping by for just the one slowly nursed drink at most times and for a longer stay if you are feeling peckish.

It certainly is great for people-watching. I did just that last Saturday (25/3/06) whilst enjoying a pint of Witte Ros weissbier alongside excellent food. Friendly staff as well.

One of the less heralded beer bars in the Dam but always friendly and comfortable. Good food, excellent range of Belgian beer and the more common Dutch varieties. Outdoor seating for the Dutch summer, plenty of window seats to watch the trams go by. Excellent for people watching!

Beers are wide ranging, from some 4.5% to 10% super dark brews, there is something for all. Just around the corner from the other shopping area, (Other than the area around Dam Sq.) Some great Restaurants in the neighbouring staats. Go for a stroll around Vondelpark and you will love a beer here rather than the plastic paddy bars in Leidsplein.
