user reviews of the Turf Tavern, Carlisle

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

A bit stuck out on a limb this pub, cut off by dual carriageways and hardwicke circus from the rest of the city centre, but when eventually found nestles pleasantly near the banks of the eden (hence recurring flooding issues). Has had *numerous* rebrands / refittings over the years (anyone remember turf shotz?) but is now a hungry horse pub and was well rammed when we went in recently. Didn't test the beer garden as the rain was torrential. Decent selection of beer, family friendly, food better than wetherspoons 7/10

A pretty moderate boozer. Very large, and looks a bit like a family pub, serves food and has outside seating. Also has large screen sports. However, not much to really recommend it, beers fine, but not a great place at all.

Very poor service, dirty pub and unpleasant manageress would not listen to complaints about poor service despite waiting 55 mins for meal which was cool if not cold when served. Definitely one to miss
