| Had an interesting 'coupla' pints in this place on a Saturday night. There were no ales available and they are STILL serving 1664 in Stella glasses! The cost of a pint was pricey but when my partner ordered spirits, I certainly had no money left over for the woman who barged into the place selling clothes! The locals make this pub what it is. | No proper ale, �3-40 for a pint of 1664 served in a Stella glass (when they don't sell Stella), old fogies boring you with tales of their Benidorm timeshare and the odd local 'mong' around to pester newcomers..... yet I liked this place because in a sea of foreign bars and restaurants and an attempt to eliminate everything 'English' this is still an old fashioned 'How's yer Father' local English pub... almost extinct in London. You may not appreciate the local 'bigoted' views... but strange that if those 'local' bigoted views were espoused by people you encountered on holiday somewhere they would be 'understandale'. | As others have said, entering this pub is a bit like being in someone�s front room. Unlike a nice front room, I didn�t find the front bar to be very comfortable � no normal seating; only high stools and high tables. I didn�t bother with the back room. The only real ale on was Adnam�s Bitter, which was not particularly good. I don�t think I�ll be returning. RexRattus - 7 Apr 2009 13:29 |
| This is very much a local�s pub and I felt a little unwelcome so ended up sitting in the back room drinking my pint of Adnams, if I remember correctly. This room had a plasma screen and numerous rugby shirts up on the walls, but none of them seemed to be English� tut tut. There is a small alcove with some sofas in it towards the back of the pub and there is also another plasma screen in the small main bar where the locals were all hanging out.
