The pub they couldn't close down has had a coat of paint and is alive and kicking
The landlady welcomed us like old friends and offered us roast potatoes and chatted away merrily. The locals were friendly and the pub had a good atmosphere. The landlady has been there 25 years and is clearly not the rude lady she has been described in previous posts.Well worth a visit.

Proper East End, old boys pub this. It has not been decorated in a while, but that adds to its charm. The beer is pretty reasonably priced and has a few TV'S in there for the sport. It just never seems that busy, although it odes have a loyal set of regulars. As it goes, it is good it ain't that busy durting football and other sport as you get a decent view and are spared the argy bargy of a packed pub during a match. Thisn is much more preferable to maybe more popular pubs near by which get crammed during matches. Much prefer the space here.

Went in here the other night. The landlady dorren is so rude it is unbeleiveable. She is very nice to her little clan. Would not reccommend to anyone. The wicked witch of stepney still here.

People on here moaning that a pub doesn't serve real ale should realise the reason why; the vast majority of drinkers dont like it, its an aquired taste. Went in there on Friday, it was busy, and had very reasonable pices, 2.60 a pint

One of the last traditional East End pubs. Great atmosphere, very cosy and friendly. The landlady Doreen is a lovely person who is well respected by her customers. She even has a free bar towards Christmas every year to thank her regular customers for their custom througout the year. Haven't come across many publicans who do that! I am part of the week-end crowd who goes in for the live music on Saturdays and Sundays. Great place to watch the football too, especially the free bar food at half time. Top place!
