Stayed here for one night in April with 2 mates out on the ale all day. Cracking family room for the price - clean and well presented room and pub, staff were also friendly and efficient.

Breakfast was decent and included in the b&b price, cereals, juices and a full english is just what was needed after the previous days ale. We had a beer and burger offer the previous day which was cheap and cheerful but good value.

The beer was well kept i had a pint of Greene King IPA and a St Austell Proper Job, both well kept and well below the £3 mark. Both mates drank lager but had no complaints. Had some sort of karaoke on the Thursday evening however, we didn't partake.

Would definately stop here again

The pint of Belhaven - Grand Slam Ale was very well kept and the service quick and friendly, more than I was certainly expecting from a Greene King pub,6/10

I wasn't expecting much when I first walked in and immediately pegged this an another rather anonymous suburban Greene King pub. Yet I have to admit that for a Saturday night the George had quite a mellow feel with plenty of seating, good views of the tv screens and more than competent bar staff. I certainly enjoyed my pints of Back of the Net and some simple pub grub. Preferable to many of the self conscious and rather snooty pubs in the city centre. Not bad at all.

lovely exterior, done in tudor [black & white] style, as many buildings in chester.
belongs to greene king's old-english-inn chain.
very popular with students, although they weren't a problem when we stayed there.
couple of cask ales on offer, but were poorly kept.
[they probably have trouble shifting cask ale in a student bar].
meals were nice, and also offer good value at certain times of the day, as promotions apply.
5-10 min walk into town.
would stay again.. at right price!
