Small pub off the beaten track in need of refurb. Seats with holes in and looking generally tired. Could only find London Pride. It was ok. Told there is a cavery on Sundays which they said was good. Friendly staff if a bit slow.

This is a small pub that has been extended with the addition of a conservatory which is labelled as a restaurant and childrens area. The beer garden is huge and has a climbing frame and swings to keep the kids amused. The bar area is very ornate with an inglenook that is adorned with all sorts of brass and copper objects and there seems to be a horse theme throughout with cart wheels and bridles hanging up alongside numerous horse brasses.

I found the barman to be polite enough and Adnams and Pride were available alongside a standard draught selection.

There is a dartboard, but there were too many tables on the oche for me to think that it is readily used by passing customers. There is also a plasma screen which was switched off as there was no sport being played, although I didnt actually see any signs advertising live sport.

There is a late license until midnight on Friday and Saturdays, but I think that this pub is frequented by an older crowd as the hits from the fifties that were playing would suggest.

This is a nice enough pub, but I wouldnt go out of my way again.

used to be on the main road (great north) till the road bridge over the main line fell down one day, and that was before jarvis or balfour days, now on very quiet dead end (bit like s-hatfield), beer could be better but ok for area, and it seems drug free which is rare in s-hatfield,
