| Judging by the comments, this place has changed since my only visit some years ago as a regular visitor to the area, which provided me with a unique experience in 45 years of drinking in thousands of pubs. Calling with my wife for a drink and hopefully a meal I was immediately verbally baited by a local, presumably a worker from the nearby quarry. Failing to rise to the bait, I then found him sidling up behind me to deadleg and try to floor me. Barmaid to local: "I thought you were a nice man". We quickly drank up and left. | Welcoming, warm pub filled with railway memorabilia. Food is great (I tried the homemade steak and ale pie) and the beer is excellent with plenty of choice. 'Helwith Bridge' Bitter is also avaliable - brewed by the three peaks brewery in nearby Settle. The pub is mainly frequented by hikers, climbers and cavers - some stay in the small bunk barn which is in the pub car park. Highly recommended! jimbob89 - 21 Nov 2009 17:41 |
| Very friendly, slightly ramshackle boozer. Hilarious landlady! 7 real ales on tap, railway memorabilia on the walls - and dodgy disco room to one side with octogenarian DJ - memorable for uttering the line "Sorry lads, this CD's skipping, I'll ust pop it in the dishwasher".
