I have to say, I agree with the secret squirrel. I deliberately stayed away from this pub for about two years. The former landlady had lost the plot and then this new fella came in. He was sober, probably liked his tea a little too much, but at least he made you feel welcome and he spoke to you. His beer was excellent and his attitude to the low-life rubbish of KT was dismissive: GET OUT!! The pub was on the turnaround and the beer was bloody good. Went in there today, quite a nice landlady (Irish girl), but the old rubbish had crept back in. O'Reilly's hear me now: get rid of that rubbish (the low-life I mean), or like woodworm, it will rot the foundations of the pub and you'll be lucky if you have one left. Oh well, back down the George or the other pretentious pubs in KT.

What has happened to this pub? After several years of having a landlady who did not exactly 'have her eye on the ball' they get a great landlord in that bloke called Toby. He cleared out all the rubbish, cleaned the pub from bad smells and made it an inviting place to drink, with probably the best draught beers in Camden. He's gone and I am afraid the decent reputation which he built will rapidly vanish. All the rubbish from before is back in there drinking and it is just a matter of time before it becomes the hell hole that it was previously. A great shame and I won't be going back. For sure!! :(

My information is that this place has been bought by the local brewery who doubtless will turn it into an overpriced crap beer joint,

Springsteen on the jukebox, a pool table and guinness in abundance! An excellent emporium.

Not as pretentious as some Kentish Town pubs though it does angle a bit towards a 'care in the community' end of the scale. Some of the clientelle may frighten the more sheltered of folk but they are generally harmless. Not too grotesque a rip out of a traditional pub. Also has a pool table and juke box. No ale though and even the keg (Kronenbourg in this instance) was a bit ropey. Relatively cheap for the area.
