very much a locals alehouse with a lived in feel to it. has a Joanna and a few other instruments and had four or five ales on. Had a dark brew which was very palatable. In proper working Shepperton as opposed to snotty Shepperton.

This is a real gem of a local pub, offering an ever-changing range of real ales and ciders (Hop Back Summer Lightning and Hogs Back TEA are the regulars) always served in great condition. A friendly atmosphere, traditional pub games (including bar billiards), and live music Friday and Saturday. And the food comes in packets. Best pub for miles!

At last. The 4th pub we've tried in Shepperton and I get a decent pint of ale. This is a fantastic place. They were doing so much right that the Kings Head and Anchor in Church Square were doing wrong. They weren't trying to compete with the Thames Court with its location and food. They niched themselves on real ale, community feel, traditional games and it just feels great. You want to stay there for hours. The details are a blackboard beer menu with 5 on, 4 coming soon and 2 trad ciders, all independents. The range on our visit went through from Golden to a stout. Marvellous. Oh and yes the place was heaving. Not rocket science is it?

Cracking local boozer, very friendly, had a great range of beers and my pint of Andwell IPA was just right.

We've been to this pub a few times now and although it has an excellent range of ales I'm afraid the ale is always served far too cold. The ale must be stored in the same part of the cellar as chilled lagers. So you can order a pint of Hopback Crop Circle (as we did last night) but you won't be able to taste it fully until it's reached room temperature. Sorry to be negative as this is otherwise an excellent establishment.
