Pleasant surrounds, disappointing food.

The service the staff provided was very mixed, on entering the pub the staff behind the bar were cold and uninterested in us, seeming hostile when we said we hadn't booked. But seemed to have thawed when they served us our food.

The food was bland and ordinary, but expensive for what you got. I had the mixed grill and was disappointed with the chewy and grisly meat.

For dog owners, the pub does have a lawn area with picnic benches but strangely dogs aren't allowed on the lawn? The only places to sit and eat with your dogs are a few picnic benches on some gravel and the cramped bar area.

Never again!

Visited this pub with my son and family (3 children aged 15 - 5) with a view to book a table for the following evening. After finding seats and ordering and paying for drinks we were told that children could not sit in the bar and we had to move to the restaurant. Surely they could have told us this before taking our money! We moved into the restaurant only to be told that we could only sit at a certain table right next to cctv.

We werent made welcome at all, in fact we were made to feel most unwelcome because we had children with us (they are very well behaved!) and felt that we were being watched for any slight misdemeanour.

The 2 people behind the bar didnt even say hello to us and I think a smile would have caused them great distress!

Today was the first time I was to visit The Notter Bridge Inn and I have to admit I was a very happy customer. This restaurant is a gem. The food was lovely. I was pleasantly surprised that a restaurant was able to offer more than one veggie meal that sounded delicious. The atmosphere in there is lovely and the service was brilliant. A very friendly and helpful maitre d and a great selection of drinks. I will definitely be visiting again. And hopefully get to see the animals.

after reading some of the reviews on this site i thought i'd better check this pub out for myself, i recently took my other half down for a drink and was pleasantly surprised. The pub was crammed but the bar staff still made time to meet and greet us. and make us feel thoroughly welcome. Because of this we stayed for a bite to eat as well, and the food matched the service, overall a fantastic day out, good beer and good food, what more could you ask for?
