| Apparently the Plum Pudding (the new name for this pub) is a type of pig reared in Oxfordshire. The pub is located in a village not far from a busy trading estate, but with a feeling that you're a long way from civilisation. This could have been my favourite pub of the day. But it had a bit of a cliquey feel which produced one of those moments where you walk in and everything stops. Ales were Loose Cannon Abingdon Bridge, Woodforde's Wherry, Kelham Island California Drinking & Thwaite's Wainwright. Ciders were Worley's Mendip Hills & Beatnik Bill & Weston's Old Rosie. | Quite quiet for a sunny Sunday lunchtime but a friendly welcome and treats for the dog. I suspect it would be busier during the week being a short walk away from a large business park. Real ales were Plum Pudding Bitter brewed by Ringwood for the pub, Brakspear Oxford Gold, Loose Cannon Abingdon Bridge and Potbelly Hop-Trotter, the latter two being sampled in the lovely enclosed garden. Food was not tried but prices looked very reasonable and a couple tucking into Sunday roasts gave us their recommendation. Would be very happy to visit again. yellowfever - 9 Jun 2014 11:17 |
| Now open again under a new guise as the Plum Pudding and considerably improved. Baguettes are rustic and tasty and a seafood risotto special was very good. Eager to please staff made up for a slight level of cluelessness on the tills that reminded one of the bad old days. | Undoubtedly the worst ever pub food I have ever eaten. Booked Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago, admittedly was told that they didn't do roasts but a good menu was available. Beer was ok, the pub probably does a good trade during the week due to the large business park nearby but I would suggest the Sundays food served to us was Fridays left overs just reheated. Awful.
