I have just returned from a chance visit to The Village Swan. Oh dear! Am struggling to think of anything positive to write. It's one of the sunniest days of the year and alarm bells rang as I pulled into the car park. It was deserted. On enetering the empty bar, there was no welcome from the barmaid,no greeting or comment about the lovely weather.
Drinks were ordered, again no smile with the service.
Menus were read only to be told that the menus were meant to stay together!!
Our food arrived minus butter for the toast and any tartare sauce for the whitebait. When I returned to the bar to ask for some mayonaise, the barman's arm just pointed to a sad selection of bottles for me to fetch myself. He brought some butter and just left it on the table.
All in all it was a miserable and depressing experience. Not somewhere I am planning on visiting in the next twenty years even if it's the hottest day of the year! So if you are looking for good food and a warm welcoming atmosphere(as stated on an advertising board in a field) go somewhere else. my rating for this pub has to be a zero.

Visited on a February Friday evening for a quick beer on a cycle pub crawl, probably not the best time to visit as it was very quiet with 7 customers in the pub and live music planned the next night, however the beer was good, 6X and ridgeway bitter, it was warm and clean and the barman was welcoming, so I'd certainly consider going again.

Having walked from Tring to Ivinghoe Beacon, my wife and I fancied a quick drink before continuing on to Cheddington, so we hastened to the Village Swan just down the road in Ivinghoe Aston. It seemed like a very nice, old-fashioned village pub, and was filled at the time with satisfied-looking customers enjoying sunday lunch. We both tried an ale from the local Tring Brewery. I can't recall its name but it was nice.

Did the walk from Tring Station to Leighton Buzzard on 29th December 2007. A bit muddy in places but really hugely enjoyable in almost perfect winter walking weather. Was surprised that there is no mention of the pub in Ivinghoe Aston, The Village Swan. We were given a good welcome by the new owners and served a really excellent sunday lunch. The vegetables were outstanding. I understand that it has fairly recently changed hands and can only suppose that the previous owners were not very walker friendly.

Bright and clean with tasty food and decent beer. Run by the village as a sort of cooperative and owned by a large number of local residents, the staff were cheerful and welcoming. The vegetarians in our party were pleased with the choice of veg. options. Recommended.
