| Now just called the Heeltap. Over-bright lighting and surfaces, and thus rather different to most Davy's outlets (which tend to be dingy dungeon premises). The Old Wallop (re-badged Couraged Directors) was off, so I was pleased to see the excellent Late Red from Shepherd Neame available (or, I was until they charged me �3.85 for my pint!). Not sure what the big guy at the front door was doing (apart from scowling at the punters sitting at the George yard tables outside). Not my sort of place at all, but at least they didn't serve beer in the disgusting metal tankards that most Davy's use. rpadam - 23 Jan 2010 11:53 |

| Recently refurbished (again), this place is a lot less cosy than it used to be and it wasn't too cosy then. Lots of light wood and steel surfaces in here. It has one ale on but it is 'smoothflowed' to within an inch of its life and served ice cold, reasonable selection of wine and the usual cold lagers. The only reason to go in here considering the number of good pubs in this area is if you are drinking lager in the George's courtyard next door and the queue for the bar is too long, this place is usually empty. | I wouldn't be surprised if Jamie of "Jamies" fame is responsible for this offal. Ludicrous poncefest of a place,......so bright and unbearably smug that you'd better be packing your ski goggles. Unsurprisingly overpriced and lacking any redeeming characteristics whatsoever,...Not so much heeltapping as footstompingly bad,...should you ever have the misfortune to find yourself in any branch of this chain,..remove the noose and shoehorn yourself out double-sharpish. kmcs - 25 Aug 2005 16:33 |
