Canalside Marston's pub on the A5. A few were in, mostly for drinks, some possibly for food. Marston's Pedigree & EPA & Brakspear Oxford Gold were the 3 real ales. Probably more of a summer pub and not really suited to a blustery March day.

We were here two nights in a row whilst on a canal boat holiday. Four and then six of us had very enjoyable meals. The beer was good as were the other drinks. The portions were very large so we certainly didn't go hungry. The only complaint is that they ran out of several things on the menu - this was at 7pm on a Friday night. We'd definitely recommend this place.

Hi,
Far better then the Watford Services, well worth leaving the M1 at junction 16 and a short trip up the A5 for a much more relaxing break by the canal side.
Well done to all the staff.

If we a ever up this far north again, we will call in.

Quite a decent local and the canal memorabilia and skittles are nice touches. Ales were just fine if a little well travelled (Pedigree etc.) but it's s suitable stopping off point on a canal walk amid very unspoilt middle English countryside. A characterful tunnel takes you under the main road on the opposite side of the waterway.
