The Harrington Arms appears to be a food-dominated pub, with a number of rooms given over to dining. I sat in the main bar area on possibly the only table not made up for eating. 3 ales are served. Bass is the regular. But today they also had Castle Rock Harvest Pale & Blue Monkey Funky Gibbon. When I asked the barmaid what cider they served, I was told Strongbow and some bottled varieties in the fridge. It was only when I specifically asked if they had Old Rosie (I'd read they normally stocked it) that I was offered that. With no signs anywhere to say that it is available, I assume it's only drunk by locals in the know. It's a shame when pubs stock real cider, but do nothing to promote it, instead choosing to encourage fizzy rubbish.

was quite impressed with the staff the first few times we visited, then the regular barman returned from holiday . They say the bass served from the jug is'probably the best in the area' but it all depends who serves you and how long the jug has been stood on the bar or in the fridge. My husband did ask for some fresh to be taken from the barrel as the previous drink tasted stale and the young man duly obliged. However we overheard him telling another member of staff 'that some bloke had said this tasted stale' so the other person immediately said 'you should have told him to bollocks' this was in full hearing of anyone as they were stood behind the bar. We told them what we thought of his comment and left vowing never to return again.

Food here is wholesome, well presented, good quality and value for money. Professional friendly service. There is something for every taste on the menu. We love taking our family and friends to this restaurant. You generally have to book as its so popular particularly on a Sunday lunchtime when there are 2 sittings.
You will not be disappointed.

Used to be my local until I moved down South, still call in when I can. The beer is always good and I echo what has been said about the food. Call in and have a pint and you should find yourself being dragged into a conversation of some sort -very friendly locals and staff.
