Next pub / bar on our visit of York but this place is really not my thing.

No ale on tap, I wasn’t surprised for I opted for a bottle of European lager.

Stayed for 30 minutes while everyone else in my group finished their beers before crossing the river for “more delights”.

As mentioned above this type of place is not for me, however the building is lovely, even has an old tomb on one side of the building.

Worth a visit just to look at the interior.

Had this place actually still been a church, there might have been some people in there.

Sure it's different over the weekend, but it doesnt change the fact that it sucked.

Visited this pub out of curiosity more than anything. If you walked or drove past you wouldn't really look twice as it still looks like a church. Inside it has been converted, & despite some of the negative views of other contributors, I think it works really well. Open planned with hidden lighting. Very quiet when we visited but I imagine it can get very busy. Definitely aimed at the younger drinkers with the usual choice of alcopops & Eurofizz, however I had a well kept pint of John Smith's Cask. Staff were friendly. Worth a visit if its quiet.

Well, I can't say much about this pub except they wouldn't let us in. 10.40pm on a Sunday night, well dressed in shirt and trousers (no trainers) and in a group of 4 (two males and two females). The doorstaff said they didn't allow admission to "large groups". Ridiculous.

In this day and age, the bars need punters more than punters need bars. If establishments like this don't want my hard earned money then they won't have a second chance to get it. I will avoid this place in the future, and would advise readers of this review to do likewise. I wonder if the owners of this bar know what kind of over zealous and moronic doorstaff they employ ?
