As the neighbouring Red Lion was closed yesterday, we visited the Unicorn instead which reopened about 6 months ago. It certainly looks pretty smart here now. I was initially disappointed that 3 of the 4 handpulls were "coming soon" (and the Aspalls cider soon ran out too) but the remaining ale (Charlie Wells DNA) was in excellent condition.

Dropped in for a quick pint on a mid-week lunchtime recently while waiting for the bus. Pleasant enough bar with a few people eating, food looked ok but didn't check the prices.

Sadly the beer was only mediocre - and expensive even for this area...

In a small village with an abundance of pubs, The Unicorn stands up well to the competition. The menu was simple but very tastym the beer was well kept with a decent selection

Wife and I visited this charming country town last week and were really pleased we chose to dine at this pub. Menu was excellent but more to the point the food was cooked to perfection - exceptionally tasty.

We chose to eat outside in the attractive enclosed garden and were relieved that most of the picnic benches were relatively new and unusually comfortable.

But what made our visit so very special was the exceptionally warm, friendly and helpful service we received.

Ten out of ten from us - and a big thank you to the staff.

Good inexpensive food, good beer and a good atmosphere, with helpful and courteous staff.
