user reviews of the Blinking Owl Country Inn, North Newington

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

There were so many promising things about this pub: beautiful village, roaring fire, the cosy atmosphere, friendly landlord, simple good food. Unfortunately the beer was terrible. Out of the three beers we had, two were off. There were far too many pumps on and I suspect there just isn't the trade to get through the casks before they turn. The landlord didn't seem especially bothered that he was selling beer that was way past its best. It was a real shame.

While I was working in the area two years ago I stayed at the Blinking Owl many times and was always made to feel welcome, good food ,good beer very cosy surroundings and Dave was always ready to have a chat to this poor old south London lad and so were the locals. imdownthepub hasnt got a clue what a good pubs about.

The last comment was obviously by some kind of halfwit, as the owl is marvellous, and Dave the landlord is a true hero head! Cracking stuff!

A pub that should have everything, yet ends up being bad. It's difficult to explain, I just don't like any of it.
