user reviews of The Queens Head, Horspath

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Stayed a couple of nights in the accommodation. Room was more than ample and remote from the pub. Great shower.

The London Pride was excellent and my girlfriend had a Shotover beer which she enjoyed. Sadly, prior commitments in Oxford denied us the opportunity to sup more in the pub.

Very friendly from start to finish. Using a local cab firm (who were very swift to arrive) it was between £12 and £15 into Oxford.

Traditional and busy village pub on a Friday night with an Aunt Sally match outside and World Cup football inside on TV. Three of the four previously mentioned ales were on with Fullers ESB replaced by Fullers Summer Ale priced at only £2.50 per pint. Having tried a pint, on my return to the bar I declined a second and the barman said he was not surprised as nobody seems to like it. I then had a Shotover Prospect which is usually quite acceptable but not good on this occasion as I suspect the barrel was on the way out and finally tried the Pride which was very nice. I have not had a problem on previous visits and would happily return as I think firstly I made the wrong choice having been tempted by the price and secondly I was just unlucky. The Prospect was not bad enough to return it but not good enough to enjoy. C'est la vie.

Popped in for a Thursday lunchtime pint. Tucked away down the narrow Church Road. Restaurant bar to the left; public bar to the right; the latter adorned with signed sporting photographs and memorabilia. Four ales on: Fuller's ESB, London Pride, Shotover Prospect and Shotover Scholar. Tried a pint of the well-kept latter which didn't disappoint. Golf (The Open on TV), old boys at the bar, friendly landlord and landlady and obviously community hub with mention of Quiz Night, Aunt Sally, Meat Draw et al. Clean, friendly and impressive.

Basic two-roomed local with good local beers.
