user reviews of the Ivy Wall, Spalding

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

First stop in Spalding yesterday was this branch of Wetherspoons. It stretches back a fair way from the road, with a separate, small room and a tiny outdoor smoking patio at the rear. 4 of their regular ales were on - Greene King Abbot, Ruddles Best, Sharps Doom Bar & Wychwood Hobgoblin. In addition there was Hobgoblin Gold, Ascot Posh Pooch & Vale Gravitas. The cider was Old Rosie. Breakfast was good value as usual. Spalding isn't that well endowed with decent pubs, apart from one exception. So this was the best of the rest in the town.

Nice modern JDW
Dont be fooled by the small frontage as the inside goes way back.
10 hand pulls 9 for ale and 1 for cider. Guest ales are 1.99 a pint.

Nice for a Weatherspoons- new and clean, but Spalding has pubs with far more atmosphere and charm.

Typical J. D. Weatherspoons pub with just what you would expect. Very new and somewhat lacking in any atmosphear. Staff very friendly good choice of ales etc.
Parking a problem so look for the M&S Food store car park The Ivy Wall is 100 yards form there.
