quality pub with bags of character and friendly locals. Beer range good, just let down by a lack of beers from the Merseyside area.

Can't comment on this pub as we didn't get through the doors due to the awful disgusting manners & attitude of the manager/owner! It was Friday 30th January 2015 and I was due to pick my son up from a local school at 1pm for an appointment, I had decided to take my eldest son & meet my sister & we were going to grab a drink and catch up before I did so (she only lives round the corner so it's her local)
I pulled into the car park at 11.52 and within 30 seconds the most obnoxious disgusting man was at my window "we don't open till 12" I said "that's fine it's just gone ten to" to which he sarcastically replied "oh your coming in for a drink are you? Sure you're not just going to park here and go shopping?" I was shocked at his rudeness and just said "I was waiting for my sister to arrive yes & we were planning on it but I may not bother now" and still he was rude "ok that's great so move your car I have deliveries and your in the way!" I was horrified? How this ogre of a man ever gets custom is beyond me!? Maybe people do use it to park but he shouldn't assume everyone does! We went to the birkey instead - I would recommend that pub! But steer clear of this pub - it's owned by a toxic repulsive man!

Small, but pleasant backstreet pub in Crosby. There are a number of separate drinking areas - a tiny area near the front door, another front bar and two rooms at the rear served from a hatch. Caledonian Deuchars IPA & Flying Scotsman, Theakston Best, Youngs Bitter & Holts Two Hoots were the beers. Probably my favourite of the 4 establishments in Crosby I tried on Sunday.

A really nice old-fashioned pub with friendly efficient service.
5 ales available. I had a pint of Caledonian which was well kept.

It all started so well. I was served promptly by a friendly barmaid. Caledonian 80 Shillings - not a beer you see all that regularly. Alas, things went downhill.

The beer was just drinkable, but had a definite vinegar tinge. My partner took both pints back. Apparently it was the end of the barrel, so they agreed to replace it. Cain's Bitter this time. Even worse condition, just a very strange flavour. I asked whether perhaps they'd given me the wrong beer, but no, it was just poorly kept.

I had been looking forward to discovering the fine pubs of Crosby. Unfortunately, the only place I'd ever bother revisiting is the Stamps.
