A friendly, cosy sam Smith's pub with lots of history.OBB at 1.80 a pint and it is very well kept

In the wasteland that is Eccles, one searches for a suitable alehouse but it is an often thankless task. Therefore it was a pleasure to discover this old fashioned, no frills establishment on the main drag, providing ales from the Sam Smiths chain.

I opted for the extra stout instead of the OBB and at 2.05 a pint it was certainly worth it. Four smallish rooms that have a scruffy appeal, this is a pub that has aged naturally and lacks any kind of pretension, comfortable with its time worn feel. Good service and lively locals add to the enjoyment.

Pub with plenty of character. Friendly staff and locals. Well worth a visit and in Samuel Smiths tradition great value for money.

Sam Smiths pub with OBB on handpull. The 4 separate small rooms are all fairly authentic. There are 2 either side of the entrance. Only the one on the left has access to the bar. Most locals were congregating here. Further back, there is another room to one side of a corridor and a lounge at the rear. There is also a patio garden. Old pictures of Salford and Eccles can be viewed on the walls. The original tiling on the floor is impressive.
