Back into Buckinghamshire this afternoon and with time for two pubs in Loudwater, this was my first port of call. Set in an urbanised area, it has the feel of a village local with both drinkers and diners accommodated. Although some of the latter seemed a touch peeved. One elderly couple gave up waiting for their Sunday roast. But the food did look good if you could tolerate the wait. It's a Fuller's pub. So they had ESB & London Pride, in addition to Gale's Seafarers & HSB. Guests were Adnams Mosaic & Dark Star Sunbeam. Decent pub.

A fairly unremarkable pub from the outside..but Oh what a delight from the inside. A warm and cosy interior, log fire and decorated beautifully in a traditional style. The fact that it was a FULLERS pub out here in Bucks was a plus in itself. London Pride, Bengal lancer and ESB on draught with 3 guest ales. I started with the Castle Rock Harvest pale followed by the Lancer and an ESB. All, I have to say in excellent condition. The young gent behind the bar was friendly and helpful , a nice clientelle and dog friendly. This is a proper old English pub (hard to find nowadays) , where my wife and I felt really welcomed and comfortable ...It certainly wont be long before we go back..all in all, I believe I've discovered a little gem...schh, dont tell anyone !

This continues to be a very solid pub.
A Fullers house, with six hand pumps lined up on the main bar. Five are fullers ales ( Pride and ESP and currently Summer Ale are complemented by HSB and Seafarers and then the sixth is a rotating guest beer which was Wye Valley Bitter during my last visit.
Very traditional decor with pub mirrors and lots of interesting things around the walls as described below, and also a few old muskets to keep the General Havelock theme.
Plenty of internal seating but also a very nice garde space out back.
Only issue is that its a bit out the way outside Wycombe on the Kingsmead Road, but it is certainly worth the short trip out of town for good beer and good food.

Absolutely lovely local pub.
Decent beer, friendly staff, quite lively but not too busy.
Comfortable. Quite a lot of interesting things on the walls and shelves - General Havelock's biog, a George V jubilee thing, and a strange 1944 German war bond.

Found this friendly little pub sometime ago and have been very pleased to find that they now feature about 10 different ales each month.Still get our Fuller's favourites but often tempted by the seasonal and guest ales. Not to be missed
