Under new Management. Was never a bad pub but really becoming worth a visit if you are that side of Chelmsford.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. In the same league as the Orange Tree and the Hop Beer Shop.

What a great little boozer.
In Chelmsford for the cricket today, and spent both lunch and tea breaks in the United Brethren.
Excellent food and a very good couple of pints of Hophead.
Cricket was disappointing, the pub more than made up for the for the disappointment .

A decent pub with sensible prices - 2.60 for Woodforde Wherry on my visit. A proper local with friendly welcome and good service.

We visited this week after going to the Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival. We were impressed with the pub which was clean and tidy and rather spacious.

Only two hand pumps in action on Thursday night Woodfordes 'Wherry' and Adnams 'Best'. My mate and I opted for the Wherry which was very good.

Its certainly an atractive pub with many different items scattered around the place and in the ceiling rafters. I would imagine this is a real community local pub. As others have pointed out, not too far to the excellent 'Queens Head' from here.
