| I have been using this pub for the last five years as it is close to the caravan site at Abbey Wood, ok it is not your designer bar but it is what it is a local bar used by local people and it is fine. I am Geordie and have been made more than welcome by the manager and his family ,staff and the regulars.The beer is well kept and not overly expensive in fact it is the same as my local up here. I have seen no evidence of druggies or beggars but i only go there three to four times a year so maybe i have missed something but i doubt it.It was the high light of my visits to London which i will not be able to do now that Boris has banned my motorhome from the city. | Dispite all the reviews about this pub being full of pikies and drug bandits upon visiting I learned that the pub is under new management and the unsavoury types have vanished in the past 3 years. Now the pub is bright and lively with a very homey feel. Please be assured that if you order a shandy you won't be killed - after all how would I be writing this review! | This pub wouldn�t be out of place in the middle of a housing estate and having grown up in the middle of a housing estate I didn�t mind it in here. I see nothing wrong with having a pint in this basic boozer whilst waiting for a train as the barmaid was very friendly and although the air was a bit blue and the locals looked a bit rough and ready I was made to feel welcome by most. There are five hand pumps, but unfortunately four are unused as only Pride was available along with a standard draught selection. There are a couple of plasma screens and a projector for the airing of Sky Sports, but as no worthwhile events were on during my afternoon visit a few of the locals were watching Judge Judy which I thought a bit depressing. There is a dartboard at the front of the pub and a good sized garden out the back that has a climbing frame at the rear to keep the kids amused whilst on a mind bending session. I certainly wouldn�t go out of my way to drink here again, but it serves a purpose and is better than nothing. Strongers - 27 Oct 2009 11:37 |
