Another welcome return to this fine pub. Pubs how they used to be. quite busy again, and was told even busier over the Easter weekend. The landlord,s son has now taken over. Great place to drink and great locals noticed a couple of old stalwarts namely Ray & Terry hovering in the same old seats.Food offerings still being brought in by the locals and you can bring your own snadwiches too. Long live the Seymour Arms james55westhead - 16 Apr 2012 06:00
A bit of nostalgia that will have you wondering why we bother with the new format of pubs. I was a regular of the equally delightful Lamb & Fountain in Frome (Mother's as it's known!) Mother herself recommended the Seymour as she's an old friend of Jon's. T'is a treat to be blessed with the opportunity of basking in such a friendly, warm and unspoilt bit of history. I am lobbying my local MP to instigate the consideration of opening a train station at Witham.... Gorgeous!!! bornNbred - 23 Feb 2012 20:02
Quite simply, one of the great pubs of England. A real experience of how this country was 50/60 years ago (including the prices) and I say as a 23 year old, how much I resent living in an age where places like this are no longer the norm. I hear from the locals though that Jon and Jean’s son intends to take on the running of the place, so perhaps the future for this grand old tavern is more secure than people think. I for one, fervently hope so. JoWard25 - 17 Aug 2011 23:41
A marvellous unspoilt example of a rural Alehouse. I've been told that the family of the present landlord might not continue after he has retired - that would be a terrible shame. Well worth a visit. smithy384 - 18 Jun 2011 15:29
| Quite frankly one of the best pubs you will ever find. A pub lovers pub. I hope it remains unchanged for many years. It has all the nostalgia that many country pubs have lost, but none of it is contrived, 100% genuine. My only concern is for the future when the current owners move on, it must not be changed.
