I agree with bramleyborn that this is a pub run for the priorities of the pub not the customer. Its part of a small chain and has the consequent air of a careless money-parting machine about it. My wife said the ladies toilets were a disgrace - even missing toilet seats - usually a good indicator of kitchen hygiene - and that is reason enough to walk straight out. The whole place feels grubby and badly cleaned. There are high-chairs but no baby-changing facility. The parsnips were uncooked and the roast potatoes could have been cooked yesterday. Lamb shank had dried out. The nice young servers all appear depressed from tiptoe-ing around the eccentric and over-controlling pub manager/head-waiter. Like eating in a canteen - soul-less and dreary - but with restaurant prices and a nice view. In no way an ale drinkers or locals country pub.

This pub should be the centre of a local community but it doesn't serve the interests of the local people. It can be an uncomfortable experience having a drink inside as 99% of room is set aside for dining. Coupled with irregular pub hours and a first hand account of being asked to leave as the food had stopped being served and they were waiting to close.
