| On the way home from Canvey, we had time for a stop in Grays to tick The White Hart & the Theobald which both appear in the 2016 & 2017 GBG’s. 4 ales with the Mauldon Dickens @ 4.0% being on good form. The other ales were all smaller breweries so good to see no National brands on. Very busy with the whole of the large front bar packed, a band were warming up so I guess this is why it was so busy. We took our drinks and retired to the back bar where there’s a pool table and the continuation of the bar with just a few lager pumps on it. From my quick visit I can confirm the White Hart is obviously a big part of the local area and has a loyal following, the clientele are slightly rough rounds the edges, but this is Grays after all, a tough town. lezford - 23 Jan 2017 13:02 |
| A typical workingman's basic pub where beer choice/quality count for an awful lot.The choice of ales encompasses beers from LocALES to further afield.Sports orientated with Sky t.v. on two screens showing different matches on my visit, they also have a variety of games such as darts etc.A beer garden outside has a portable shellfish trailer. The Crouch Vale was �2.75 a pint which seemed reasonable to me. I also visited the nearby Theobald Arms, bothpubs are goodbut the White Hart is the pick. slerpy - 12 Jan 2012 09:53 |

| Essexnut seems a bit confused and paranoid about the pubs in Grays.Regarding The White Hart i know they do a lot of work with the local Indian community and they are nearly always full with contractors staying from around the country. I,ve been drinking in there since it re-opened about 4years ago, yes a lot of locals use it and a lot of non regulars use it without any problems. A good sports pub with good beer, staff are friendly and the management are always about for a chat.Only thing essexnut got right was they don,t tolerate yobs which goes for most of the pubs he mentions in Grays (see other pub reviews) Looks like we won,t be seeing him in many Grays pubs, doesn,t it Baldy52 - 23 Nov 2010 18:54 |
