I remembered visiting here over 7 years ago. So I popped in again to buy some beers for a forthcoming train journey. Has a good selection of ales and a rather smelly cheese counter. Old Rosie cider is dispensed from a box. There's quite a few other off licenses in York. But this must certainly be one of the best still.

A little gem for those of us who do their real ale drinking at home.

Fair selection of ales including local breweries beers.

They had Thornbridge Jaipur 330ml bottles (1.99) - not 1st time I have seen this anywhere. Case of 24 in boot of car!!>....(with 5% case discount!)

Worth a visit.

Popped in and picked up a dozen bottles, not perhaps the most inspiring range but I did get a few interesting beers. Parkings a problem and its a way out to haul your booty, still worth the effort to get there though.

Popped in here on our way back to London. Bought an excellent selection of real ales for future football match trips! They even have a cider for take away. When we visited it was Weston's Old Rosie.

Fantastic shop. I'm surprised, and glad that it has been suggested onto this website...should have done it myself if I'd thought. Is deffinately not a bar or pub, as they only have an off-license. But well worth visiting. A fantastic selection of bottle ales, from all over the UK, but with obvious Yorkshire bias, bottled ciders and perries, and a good choice of wine as well. Then they also have a cracking deli-counter, with some super cheeses at very reasonable prices.
Best of all is the draught service. Pick up a cheap carry-home sealed bottle for orders up to 4 pints of anything on draught. They have tim taylors Landlord on as a regular, along with usually at least one real cider. Last time I visited they also had a real perry on. All priced abou 1.40 a pint. What a deal.
This is the perfect place to prepare for a night in...as just the other night, bought a selection of bottled ales (all less than 2.00 a bottle, where else has such good prices), loads of cheeses, and some crackers, then a 4 pint carry-out, all less than 15. I was shocked and pleased...
Visit this place...
