| The Castle is probably the nearest pub to Skipton's castle. But I don't believe the castle itself is visible from here. The interior is sub-divided into different sections and has character. Food is served. But the young waitresses seemed a bit hapless. Ale choice was poor - Caledonian Deuchars IPA, Fullers Quintessential Pale Ale & Banks's Bitter. Old Peculier was off due to some kind of problem with all Theakson ales?? Nice enough pub. But could do with a better beer selection. blue_scrumpy - 27 Jul 2016 20:37 |
| Limited Theakston only beer range, and my mate had a pint of the guest beer that was utterly vile. Nice solid old style Pennine stone building, with benches out front to watch the world go by. Loses a point for that cardinal sin I cannot abide - allowing a bunch of surly locals to line up on stools all along the fairly small bar front, causing me to have to bellow my order over their heads. | Theakston's dominates in this pub which seems popular with locals, who give it a good atmosphere. Bit of an unremarkable interior. Nothing to dislike but nothing to rave about. Would be miles better without carpets and soft furnishings. Good service. | Cosy pub with possibly the best beer garden in Skipton - always packed on a summer afternoon. Beer is usually Theakstons (best bitter and sometimes XB) plus a guest beer. Highly Recommended. jimbob89 - 18 Jul 2010 22:16 |
