If you are Orange, and full of your own self importance, then this is the pub for you. If not, go to the Old Maypole .

The best pub in chigwell!

Whenever i go it is full of the most beautiful people.

This combined with fantastic fresh food and perfectly chilled beers makes it a winner in my eyes.

After speaking to some of the staff recently, apparently the pub will close at the end of November for a week or so as they give the pub a major refurb.
Cant wait to see what they do and i have already booked a table for Xmas day!

This pub used to be a Harvester restaurant but has been turned into a trendy wine bar for Chigwell's up and coming footballers wives. If visiting on a friday/saturday night, I suggest taking sunglasses to combat the orange glow of fake tan which hits you as you walk through the door. Somewhat over-priced and can get incredibly packed, especially on weekends and during the hot weather, but a large smoking area certainly helps with the claustrophobia. Probably not the best idea to visit this pub for a swift pint - as I once waited (Saturday afternoon) 30 minutes for service before giving up and moving on.

I visited at 6pm mid-week and it was heaving. The bar was very shortstaffed but the two guys working it were friendly and very efficient. Female manager was quite snotty but otherwise staff were excellent.
Nice beer garden though people were diving about everywhere as they were attacked by wasps... maybe some pest control would be good for the punters' comfort.
Locals weren't very friendly - elbowing and pushing to get to the front of the bar and some very young chavs were being served alcohol. The food was the best part of the visit, really good for a pub.
Overall a nice place just beware of the unfortunate 'edge' created by a few of the pushier regulars.
