Always given this pub a wide berth for no real reason even though we only live a few miles away. However, we met friends there for a drink a few months ago and I am kicking myself for not going there sooner. The staff are so friendly, the ale is outstanding and they have a great choice. The Managers/Owners are so customer orientated that we were made to feel so welcome. They had a few guest ales on the pump and when we couldn't make up our minds, the Landlady gave us a taster of each without hesitation. Talking to people that had eaten there, the food is extremely good even though some said it was a bit pricey. Looking at the menu, I saw that all the food is locally sourced. Whilst the Lamb Inn is our local and our favourite, I would say the Holmbush is a close second.

Well, it's been a year. Only a few bluebells were out, though lots of primroses and violets. This pub is as good as ever.

Good boozer. The landlord Martin is from Plymouth. I only visit once a year when I pop in at the start of a walk to Horsham to see the bluebells (and visit the Frog and Nightgown). When I went in last week Martin said "It's not a year already! is it?"

beer is fine. My pub diet is beer and crisps, but I have never heard anyone complain about the food.

If you are not in a rush, and are flush, ask if the chainsaw wood carver is still working on the other side of the railway station. He's good, much cheaper than Damian Hurst and does not pay other to do his carving.

A pub with a warm welcome, wel-kept real ales, renowned for its excellent traditional, home-cooked food, and superb service! The Fuller's London Pride was excellent and I also noticed King and Barnes Bitter. My Fisherman's Pie was to die for. Vital to book at weekends!
